Fire Protection System Design

GFS Texas’ designers pride themselves on providing accurate, code compliant, fire sprinkler designs for a wide variety of systems including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, standpipe, and special hazard systems.

GFS Texas currently has seven full time designers. Each designer has a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. In addition to the educational background gained from the college curriculum, each designer is also highly encouraged to become NICET certified which leads to acquiring a state of Texas R.M.E. license. Designers also attend Society of Fire Protection Engineers meetings as well as other continuing education engagements that keep them well versed on the latest codes and design practices.

3D Modeling and BIM Coordination

With 3D modeling and BIM coordination becoming more prevalent, GFS Texas has implemented the use of Navisworks modeling software as a platform for 3D coordination. Our standalone sprinkler design software is completely 3D and the models are seamlessly brought into Navisworks. This is an excellent medium for evaluating collisions with other MEP trades as well as architectural features.

Each designer is responsible for site surveys, preparing detailed installation plans, ordering material, and attending project coordination meetings. In addition, they work closely with reviewing authorities in order to make the plan approval process as smooth as possible.
